Visit the two magnificent lakes on the Alps
Take a drive to the jewel of the eastern Alps, lake Bled. Its emerald green colour, little church on an island and the country's oldest castle sitting on the top of the high cliff offer unique experience one must see when visiting Slovenia. After the drive around the lake, we visit the Castle offering stunning views over the entire lake and its surroundings. Do not forget to take a traditional “pletna” boat ride to the island, where you can ring the legendary wishing bell in the church. Your wishes just might come true!
Not far from Bled, one of the most pristine glacial lakes of Europe, lake Bohinj is located. Road takes us down the green valley of Sava Bohinjka river, through the Triglav National Park straight under the highest peaks of Slovenia – the Julian Alps where lake Bohinj fills at its lowest point. This idyllic countryside is dotted with beautiful natural and cultural heritage, and the little church of St. John the Baptist whose frescoes are an extraordinary example of the Christian legacy in the region.
